Credits/Achievements
The Pathway Description:
Students will study and apply principles from advanced mathematics, life sciences, physical science, earth and space science, and technology. In addition, you will be given help on any of those mentioned studies in the class. Each inspiring student should learn certain processes in mathematics, science, and technology while in Grades 9-12. Inspiring engineers and technologists should study mathematics each year, learning the important steps to science and mathematical concepts and processes defined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Principles and Standards for School Mathematics. 1.) Students should apply those Mathematics, science, and technology concepts to solve problems quantitatively in engineering projects involving design, development, or production in various technologies; and 2.) Students will Recognize the fundamentals of technology and their relationship with engineering, science, math, and other subjects.
The Pre-Engineering program offers students the opportunity to experience a wide range of topics in engineering, thus preparing the students for a two or four-year college plan. The courses of this program, created by Project Lead the Way (PLTW), are designed with integrated subjects of math, science, English, engineering, and technology.
Project Lead The Way: this is another one of the certifications class completers will receive. Project Lead The Way goes over courses like Introduction to Engineering Design going into the design development process. Students using the solid modeling computer design software (CAD) will help students create their own design and then work on problem-solving skills by analyzing their creation. Communicating with others in the class about the newly found flaws in your design because there is always room for improvement, go back to the drawing board then redesign until the design is at its limit of greatness. Next up is Principles of Engineering were similar to the last course but the student will be advancing into various technology systems and manufacturing processes. This course will help students learn how engineers and technicians use math, science, and technology. Digital Electronics is about circuits and devices giving students the applied logic behind them, before anyone gets zapped students will be practicing on computer-simulated digital circuitry. Each and every one of these courses will relate to real-world learning opportunities.
Students learn the basics of measurements; 3D modeling, digital electronics, mechanics, and experience with todays top software including Autodesk which is computer-aided design (CAD), RoboPro Robotics programming, and Multisim a circuit board design program. In class you’ll be learning how to make basic circuit boards and testing them to see if they work with a multimeter, using many of our different types of 3D printers to help your inventions come to life. Your class will be partnering with other classes like welding to help your creations come to life.
Our Engineering Technology class is a dual credit program.
> You’ll receive 2 complete certificates in this program.
> 1 complete certificate for Engineering.
> 1 complete certificate for Machine Tool Technology.
Students will also be receiving three more certifications after each of those programs listed below are completed. Great for when creating your portfolio at FIT and any job application/resume.
> FIT Autodesk Intventor
> FIT Autodesk Ultimate Cam
>FIT National Instruments Multisim
